Jurnal Rekayasa Kimia dan Lingkungan (ISSN: 1412-5064 / E-ISSN: 2356-1661) with the variant title Journal of Chemical Engineering and Environment, is an open-access journal published twice a year (June and December) by the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering , Universitas Syiah Kuala , Indonesia.

The printed version of JRKL has been published since 2004, while the online version has been available since 2006. The journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) , Google Scholar , and the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (SINTA 2).

JRKL has been accredited as a SINTA 2 journal since 2018, based on the Decree of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 32A/E/KPT/2018, and its accreditation was extended through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology No. 158/E/KPT/2021.

Beginning with Volume 17, Number 1 (2022), JRKL adopted a continuous publishing model. Under this system, articles are published online as soon as they are finalized, ensuring a steady flow of timely, high-quality content. At the end of each issue cycle, the articles are compiled for print, and the next issue begins online. This approach allows readers, students, and researchers to access and cite articles more quickly, as publication is no longer bound by the print schedule.

The scope of the journal includes food and biochemical engineering, catalytic reaction engineering, clean energy technology, environmental and safety technology, fundamentals of chemical engineering and applied industrial engineering, industrial engineering, material science engineering, process and control engineering, polymer and petrochemical technology, membrane technology, agro-industrial technology, separation and purification technology, environmental modelling, environmental and information sciences, and water and waste water treatment and management.

The editors welcome manuscripts in the form of research articles, literature reviews, or case reports in the above fields. Manuscripts submitted to JRKL must be original and must not have been submitted to, or be under consideration by other journals.
